The Department of Electrochemical Technologies at the National Technical University of Ukraine "Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute" has received valuable laboratory equipment from its French partners. This donation is the result of long-standing cooperation between Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute and Grenoble INP – UGA and serves as an excellent example of how international academic solidarity continues to support Ukrainian higher education, even in the most challenging times.

The donated equipment includes modern electrochemical instrumentation, such as potentiostats, electrochemical impedance analyzers, and auxiliary devices. It will be used in the educational process, laboratory classes, master's research projects, and scientific research.

Electrochemistry: A Technology for the Future

Today, electrochemistry is one of the key disciplines underpinning modern science and technology. It forms the foundation of many strategically important technologies that are essential to contemporary industry, energy systems, and high-tech manufacturing.

Electrochemical processes are indispensable for the development of advanced batteries for electric vehicles and energy storage systems, fuel cells, electrolyzers for green hydrogen production, water treatment technologies, corrosion protection, electroplating, electronics and microelectronics manufacturing, biomedical sensors, as well as numerous additive manufacturing technologies.

In Ukraine, the demand for highly qualified electrochemical engineers continues to grow. Specialists in this field work across the chemical, mechanical engineering, energy, aerospace, defense, and electronics industries, as well as in research institutions and high-tech companies. The advancement of modern electrochemistry is an important factor in strengthening the country's technological independence and will play a significant role in Ukraine's post-war recovery.

Modern Equipment for Modern Education

Training competitive engineers is impossible without access to modern laboratory equipment. Potentiostats are among the fundamental instruments used in electrochemical research. They enable the investigation of electrode processes, evaluation of corrosion resistance, study of electrochemical reaction kinetics, characterization of battery materials, electrodeposition of metals, and a broad range of both fundamental and applied electrochemical research.

Hands-on experience with such equipment allows students not only to strengthen their theoretical knowledge but also to acquire practical skills that meet the standards of contemporary research laboratories and high-tech industries. This is particularly important for educating the next generation of researchers and engineers capable of working with advanced materials and emerging technologies.

Beginning next semester, the equipment will be incorporated into laboratory courses, providing students with the opportunity to work with instruments that are widely used in research laboratories around the world. This clearly demonstrates the practical value of this generous donation.

Academic Solidarity Without Borders

The transfer of the equipment was made possible thanks to the dedication of Dr. Alain Denoyelle (associate professor at Grenoble INP – UGA), who devoted many months to identifying suitable instruments, verifying their functionality, preparing, packing, and organizing their transfer to Ukraine.

The transportation and logistics were coordinated by the non-governmental organization AFU Mriya Ukraine, which provides humanitarian assistance to Ukraine and supports the delivery of essential supplies to Ukrainian educational and research institutions.

Organizing the shipment during wartime required close coordination between the French and Ukrainian partners.

Thanks to the professionalism and commitment of everyone involved, the equipment has successfully arrived in Kyiv and will soon be commissioned for educational and research use.

Thank You for Your Support

The staff of the Department of Electrochemical Technologies sincerely thank Dr. Alain Denoyelle, the leadership of Grenoble INP – UGA, and AFU Mriya Ukraine for their invaluable support of Ukrainian education and science.

Today, international cooperation means much more than joint research projects or academic exchanges. It enables Ukrainian universities to maintain high-quality engineering education, provide students with access to modern laboratory infrastructure, and continue educating the professionals who will contribute to rebuilding and advancing Ukraine.

This project is another demonstration that genuine partnership is built on mutual trust, solidarity, and a shared commitment to advancing science and education.
