The Faculty of Sociology and Law (FSP) at Igor Sikorsky KPI hosted a workshop titled “The Human Factor in Accessibility: The Psychology of Perceiving Diversity.” ⚖️ The event was dedicated to protecting the rights of people with disabilities, the right to dignity, and the development of accessibility in the field of public administration.

📃 The workshop took place as part of the second stage of the “Barrier-Free Public Administration” Educational Marathon, initiated by the National Agency for Civil Service (NACS) and the Higher School of Public Administration.

Participants discussed:

🔹 mechanisms for protecting the right to dignity and the challenges of their implementation;
🔹 Ukrainian legislation in the context of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities;
🔹 European standards for inclusion in education and public services;
🔹 legal and practical barriers that still exist in society.

In addition to the lecture portion, students worked on practical case studies: they explored hidden barriers in communication, learned how to create a barrier-free environment, and developed their own inclusive solutions. Participants also built a “wall of associations” related to the concept of accessibility, worked in teams, and presented their vision of an accessible environment.

☑️ KPI is systematically developing an inclusive university environment: the Prosthetics and Rehabilitation Center and the Veteran Development Center are operational; adapted educational programs for veterans and people with disabilities are being created; and the campus infrastructure is gradually becoming more accessible to everyone.

Accessibility starts with a simple principle: the university environment should be comfortable and open to everyone.
