Biographical information
Mykhailo Bezuhlyi was born in Skadovsk, Kherson region. He graduated from the secondary school №1 in Skadovsk. Skadovsk with a gold medal.
Education, academic degrees and academic titles
- A graduate of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, he received a bachelor's degree (2000) in laser and optoelectronic engineering and a master's degree (2002) in optical and optoelectronic instrumentation.
- He did his postgraduate studies at the Faculty of Instrumentation of NTUU ‘KPI’ (2002-2005).
- He received his second higher education in 2007, specialising in business economics and qualified as an economist.
- He defended his PhD thesis on ‘Method and system of adaptive laser therapy’ (2008) and his doctoral thesis on ‘Ellipsoidal reflectors for photometry of biological media’ (2020) in the speciality ‘Biological and medical devices and systems’.
- He was awarded the academic titles of Associate Professor (2012) and Professor (2022) of the Department of Instrumentation Manufacturing.
- Internships: University of Latvia (2013), World of Photonics Congress in Munich (2013), British Council (2017), Warsaw University of Technology (2014, 2018), Rzeszow University of Technology (2021-2022), University of Sheffield (2023), Lublin University of Technology (2024).
Academic career
- Assistant (2006-2008), Senior Lecturer (2008-2010), Associate Professor (2010-2020), Professor (2020-2022) at the Department of Computer-Integrated Instrumentation Manufacturing Technologies.
- Head of the Department of CITP of the PBF of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute (2022-2024).
He is a member of the Academic Council of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute (2005-2007, since 2017), the scientific and methodological commission of the university in the speciality 151 Automation, computer-integrated technologies and robotics, the university's EQC (since 2017), numerous commissions and councils of the university, the guarantor of the educational and professional master's programme ‘Computer-integrated technologies of instrumentation production’ (2018-2021).
Scientific activity and publications
He is a specialist in computer-integrated photo and biometric systems for light-scattering tissues and media, as well as bioelectric control of bionic prostheses. He has created a number of devices, experimental setups, software tools protected by patents and copyright certificates. Participant and responsible executor of dozens of fundamental and applied research projects in the field of biomedical instrumentation, the results of which are implemented in the university's educational programmes.
Author of more than 170 scientific papers, including 3 monographs, a publication in Springer Nature and 39 articles in peer-reviewed national and international professional journals. He has developed 33 objects of intellectual property rights, including 4 patents for inventions, 3 copyright certificates for computer programs; 10 educational and methodological works, including 4 distance courses.
Member of specialised academic councils for defending Ph.D. theses, opponent of Ph.D. theses, supervisor of four postgraduate students and scientific adviser to a Ph.D. candidate. Under his supervision, a PhD thesis and a Doctor of Philosophy thesis were defended.
Public and social activities
Since entering the KPI, he has been actively involved in public activities: head of the trade union bureau and student council of the PBF (1998-2002), deputy chairman of the trade union of KPI students (2003-2007), chairman of the Student Council of the university (2005-2007), in 2008 he began working in the Trade Union Committee of employees, which he headed in 2017.
Since 2008, he has been the Ukrainian coordinator of annual social projects with the Warsaw University of Technology.
Since 2022, he has been an expert in scientific research and scientific and technical (experimental) development projects of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine. In 2023, he participated in the creation of the National Strategy for Education and Science of Ukraine 2030 in the areas of Management and Management of Science and Management and Management of Higher Education. He has been awarded numerous awards at the university, district, city, trade union, and Ministry of Education and Science levels, and has received the Politechniki Warszawskiej medal.
