SDB "Storm" is a special design bureau, which is part of the research and development department. The main direction of activity is hydroacoustics. The following works are carried out in this direction:

- theoretical and experimental research on the development of methods and means of digital spatio-temporal and spectral processing of hydroacoustic information;

- development of complex methods, creation of technical hydroacoustic and biotechnical stationary and mobile complexes for searching for underwater objects;

- creation of systems for monitoring underwater work and diving equipment;

- development of methods and means of acoustic remote sensing of the marine environment and search for sources of acoustic noise, vibrations of various origins, etc.

Recently, the Storm Design Bureau has been actively involved in the university's space program, and a new nanosatellite technology laboratory has been created in the design bureau.

Currently, the design bureau has a metalworking department, where lathes and milling machines are functioning properly; a closed-loop microelectronics production cycle (equipment for washing, assembling, and soldering printed circuit boards); a microelectronics programming and debugging laboratory.

To fulfill the tasks of the space program, an optical lens manufacturing department has recently been created, which will be able to manufacture lenses with a diameter of up to 900 mm for optical scanners of satellites.

Work is being completed on launching laboratories for studying the impact of sound on equipment - special reverberation chambers. In such chambers, it is possible to study in terrestrial conditions how powerful sound (created during the launch of spacecraft) affects the operation of spacecraft subsystems.
