FSP Students Visit Slavutych

At the beginning of March, an off-campus seminar in Slavutych was organized for students of the Faculty of Sociology and Law at Igor Sikorsky Polytechnic Institute who are pursuing degrees in Social Work. The city is currently preparing to host commemorative events marking the 40th anniversary of the Chornobyl disaster. The seminar therefore focused on introducing students to life in this 40-year-old city, which was built specifically to accommodate workers of the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant.

Azerbaijani Ambassador Honors Winners of Student Essay Contest

On March 10, Seymur Gurban oglu Mardaliyev, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Ukraine, presented awards to students of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute who won the essay contest on the topic “Startup Diplomacy: Ukraine and Azerbaijan in Building an Innovation Partnership." The Azerbaijani ambassador met with the winners and contest participants directly on the university campus. The meeting was also attended by the heads of Kyiv Polytechnic Institute and the faculties represented by the winners.

KPI student Taras Karpyuk was awarded the title of Hero of Ukraine with the Order of the Golden Star (posthumously)

During the ceremony of awarding state awards to Ukrainian soldiers, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky presented the highest state award of Ukraine, the Golden Star, to Taras Karpyuk, a graduate of the Faculty of Sociology and Law (FSP) of Igor Sikorsky KPI, to his brother Yuriy, a KPI student, graduate of the Department of APEPS TEF (currently Institute of IATE), active military volunteer, and to his father Yuriy Nesterenko, head of the Civil Protection Department at KPI.

In memory of Popovych Oleksiy Valeriyovych

Oleksiy graduated from the university in 2006 with a degree in Administrative Management (at that time, the Faculty of Sociology).

Volunteer at the Department of Sociology of the FSP Dr. Nathan Greenfield: "My advice is simple: keep learning!"

Dr. Nathan Greenfield, a scholar and researcher in the field of literary theory and military conflict, author of many books, lives and works in Canada. For the second year in a row, he has been a volunteer at the FSP Sociology Department and regularly lectures to students, mainly undergraduate and graduate students. Pavlo Fedorchenko-Kutuev, Professor of the Department of Sociology at the FSP, spoke with him about his academic interests, his “discovery” of Ukraine, and his experience of communicating with Ukrainian colleagues and students.
