On January 1, 2023, Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute became a full member of the Alliance of European Schools for Advanced Engineering Education and Research (Conference of European Schools for Advanced Engineering Education and Research). Since then, we have been working hard to involve Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute in the activities and working bodies of this association of European technical universities and to build bridges between it and European technical universities.
And so, during an online conference with CESAER Director General Matthias Björnmalm and representatives of his presidium on June 19, Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute Rector Mykhailo Zgurovsky stated that business partnership with the CESAER Alliance, which unites 58 universities from 28 European countries, has been established. The rector also familiarized Matthias Björnmalm with the history of our university, its scientific and pedagogical activities and traditions.
Therefore, this meeting was an important event in terms of developing further scientific and technical partnership between Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute and European technical universities. Such cooperation is the key to Kyiv Polytechnic being at the forefront of conceptual ideas about trends in European higher technical education.
"Adapting the best ideas of Europe for the transformation of higher technical education in Ukraine will be done, in particular, through the openness of our faculties, institutes and departments. It's no secret that thanks to the hard work of our team, the university has already become more open to the European educational and scientific space, more authoritative and competitive in the system of higher technical schools in Ukraine," said Mykhailo Zgurovsky, "This, in turn, will strengthen the position of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute departments in attracting talented applicants to enter our university. We should not forget about the influence on the formation of policy in the field of science and education within certain fields of knowledge, as well as on the content of educational programs. We will develop opportunities to preserve and develop scientific and pedagogical schools. The creative tandem with CESAER has excellent prospects."
According to Serhiy Sydorenko, Vice-Rector for International Relations of KPI, the dialogue with the members of the Presidium of CESAER is successful not only because of the strengthening of KPI's position in a number of world university rankings, but also because KPI has already become part of the family of European universities. Thanks to the international reputation of our scientists and teachers, the Alliance has attracted worthy representatives of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute to its seven working groups in key areas: Standard, Human Resources, Innovation, Learning and Teaching, Openness of Science and Technology, Sustainability of Universities, and Sustainable Financing. Thus, there are common interests between Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute and the CESAER Alliance. "It's time to move from proclaimed ideas to their implementation," says Sergiy Sydorenko, "And after Ukraine's victory over the invaders, Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute will participate in the post-war reconstruction and implementation of relevant projects. For this purpose, the development and improvement of real cooperation, in particular with the CESAER Alliance in the field of science and innovation, will be very useful."
At the end of the meeting between representatives of the Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute Rectorate and top managers of the CESAER Alliance of European Universities, Mykhailo Zgurovsky invited its representatives to visit our university. So, the diplomatic bridge between scientists and teachers of Ukraine and Europe has been built. To be continued.
