🫖 One cup of tea — the art of being here and now. Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute hosted a rehabilitation event for veterans dedicated to the Japanese tea ceremony.
🇯🇵 The event was organised by the Ukrainian-Japanese Center at Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, the Do Ladu NGO, and the Ukrainian Urasenke tea group, Chaina Kimnata (Tea Room). The special guest was His Excellency Osamu Yō, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Ukraine.
✔️ Participants learned about the philosophy of the Japanese tea ceremony and its connection to finding inner peace and cultivating focus. The Ambassador shared how he had first encountered this ancient tradition and answered the veterans’ questions.
The event then moved from theory to practice, with members of Chaina Kimnata leading a workshop on preparing traditional Japanese tea.
🤝 Events like this give veterans an opportunity to discover new cultural practices and connect with others in a calm and welcoming atmosphere. For Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, they are also a way to combine support for Ukraine’s defenders with the development of Ukrainian-Japanese cultural cooperation.
