Ikebana - "our search for ideal beauty"

Sometimes you can hear from the "experts" that Ikebana is a composition of dried flowers. However, it is not so! The word "Ikebana" consists of two hieroglyphs, their translation from Japanese means «live flowers" that is Ikebana - a composition of fresh flowers in a vase.

Living stories about poet Maksym Rylsky—Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (1943), Chairman of the Writers’ Union of Ukraine (1943–1946), director of the Institute of Art Studies, Folklore, and Ethnography (1944–1964)—were heard by students, faculty, and staff of KPI, as well as everyone who visited the Scientific and Technical Library on March 17 for a meeting with his grandson—also named Maksym Rylsky, a writer, public figure, and Honored Journalist of Ukraine.

Fedir Tetianych. At the intersection of the present and the future

Our newspaper (see “Kyiv Polytechnic” No. 1-2, 2024) has already reported on the mosaic panel “Science,” which adorns the facade of Building 18 and is included in the List of Identified Cultural Heritage Objects of Kyiv. However, its creator, monumentalist artist Fedir Tetyanych (1942–2007), is known mainly to specialists. But the first performer of independent Ukraine, whose ideas were ahead of their time and remain relevant to this day, does not deserve to be forgotten.

Life axiom: encounters with famous creative personalities are particularly memorable in childhood. An almost two-hour lesson-dialogue, held on June 7 by the presenter of the TV channel “Kyiv24,” lecturer at the Kyiv National University of Culture and Arts (KNUCA), and journalist Anastasia Krasnytska for students of the media school in Vasylkiv (Kyiv region) and pupils of the information and creative agency “Yun-press” (Kyiv Palace of Children and Youth), was dedicated to the celebration of Journalist Day. Ms. Krasnytska has 15 years of professional experience in television (over 4,000 hours of live TV broadcasts).
