Yaroslav Mykytovych Korniienko, Head of the Department of Machines and Apparatus of Chemical and Oil Refining Production (MAHNV) of the Faculty of Chemical Engineering from 2000 to 2021, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor, Honoured Worker of Public Education of Ukraine, celebrated his 75th birthday on 6 September!

❤️

A graduate of the department in 1972, Yaroslav Mykytovych began his career as an engineer, then as a junior and senior researcher. In 1979, he defended his PhD thesis and in 2003, his doctoral thesis.

He was repeatedly elected chairman of the students' trade union (1978-1984) and deputy secretary of the institute's party committee (1986-1988). He took an active part in the development of the KPI (1973-1988) and the organisation of the work of KPI departments during the active phase of the liquidation of the consequences of the Chernobyl disaster. 3 1996 to 2000, as Vice-Rector, he made a lot of efforts to develop, maintain and normalise the material base of the Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute's educational and scientific complex.

He has been working as a lecturer at the Department of MAHNV since 1981, and later as a professor. Research interests: study of heat and mass transfer processes in dispersed systems, on the example of dehydration and granulation of homogeneous and heterogeneous systems in a fluidised bed. Professor Kornienko has developed a new technology for the production of a new generation of granular organo-mineral fertilisers with a variable ratio of nutrients and stimulants as a way to promote environmentally friendly agriculture. He is the author of the textbook ‘Technical Methods of Granulation’ and the monograph ‘Quality Management of Granular Fertilisers’ and more than 200 publications, including 6 monographs and 2 textbooks. He also has 12 inventions. He is the initiator and director of the Chemical Engineering Research and Engineering Centre, which is the basis for a branch of pre-university education.

The technologies developed by Y.M. Kornienko personally and as a leader together with the staff of the Department of MAHNV allow to obtain fundamentally new granular fertilisers with a variable ratio of nutrient minerals, and most importantly, with humic substances from mineral fertiliser production waste.

Dear Yaroslav Nikitovich, please accept from the staff of the Department of Machines and Apparatus of Chemical and Oil Refining Production the best wishes of good health, personal happiness, inexhaustible creative inspiration, joy, kindness, creative inspiration and great success in your multifaceted activities. May you be happy!
