Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, in collaboration with the International Committee of the Red Cross, held a workshop titled “AI in Robotic Systems for Defense Purposes.”

👥 32 students from the Educational and Scientific Institute of Applied Systems Analysis (IPSA Institute), the Faculty of Informatics and Computer Engineering (FIOT) and the Faculty of Sociology and Law (FSP) worked with ICRC experts on software solutions that comply with international humanitarian law.

📌 Following introductory lectures, student teams developed concepts for robotic systems and presented them to the experts.

Key questions included:

🔘 Can an algorithm make decisions in place of a human, and when is this unacceptable?
🔘 How can human control over AI systems be maintained?
🔘 How do cyber operations fall under the scope of international humanitarian law?
🔘 Where does the developer’s liability for the consequences of the algorithm’s operation end?
