On September 7, 2012, Educational Scientific Center of x-ray analysis NTUU "KPI" – "RIGAKU" was opened in NTUU "KPI". Today it is the most advanced center of x-ray diffraction in Ukraine. It is equipped with x-ray diffractometer "Ultima IV" produced in Japanese corporation "RIGAKU."

On September 3, 2012 in NTUU "KPI" took place the signing of the agreement on creation of the Ukrainian-Chinese center NTUU "KPI" - "Leader".

On August 30 the airplane Yak-40 appeared at the site of Aviation and Space at the State Polytechnic Museum NTUU "KPI".

On May 15, 2012, our university was visited by the delegation of the Polytechnic University of Valencia (Kingdom of Spain).

April 19 National Technical University of Ukraine "Kyiv Polytechnic Institute" professor visited the Technical University in Munich, Federal Republic of Germany astronaut Ulrich Walter. Rector of NTUU" KPI " Michael Zgurovsky acquainted the guests with the history and present day University.

A new world record for the length of the carbon bond C-C currently is 1.704 Ao (typically 1,540 Ao). Remarkable is that despite on the record bounding length, synthesized compounds are stable even at elevated temperatures. The result was so unpredictable that it was necessary to undertake specific study causes of anomalous stability and this has led to fundamental discovery.

An unforgettable encounter with the living legend of the Soviet space program was held at the NTUU"KPI" on May 13. The cosmonaut Georgy Grechko visited Kiev Polytechnic Institute. He participated in the launch of the first artificial Earth satellite, three times  flew into space.

Celebrations to mark the 45th anniversary of the exit of the first man in the open space, and the 35th anniversary of the joint flight program "Soyuz-Apollo" took place in NTUU "KPI" on March 30. Among the guests there were  A.A.
