The H.I. Denisenko Scientific and Technical Library comprises many important departments that provide ongoing, high-quality support for the university’s educational and research activities. Some departments have existed since the university’s inception, while others were established quite recently. Among the latter is the Department of Rare and Valuable Documents. In late fall 2025, it celebrated its 10th anniversary.

The tumultuous year 2025 is drawing to a close. Amid the whirlwind of events, anxieties, struggles, and everyday concerns, a moment has arisen to indulge in a philosophical and historical reflection and take a look at the history of the Department of Laser Engineering and Physical-Technical Technologies. And immediately the question arose: what should serve as the starting point—the establishment of the department as a graduating unit, the launch of the major, the inception of the field, or the creation of the basic laboratories from which it all began?

More precisely, not with KPI, but at KPI. We are talking about Viktor Vasylovych Lazarenko, who celebrated this honorable anniversary in September this year.

September 29, 2025 marked the 70th birthday of Oleg Ivanovich Klesov, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Professor, and Head of the Department of Mathematical Analysis and Probability Theory. 

On May 12, Volodymyr Ugolnikov, until recently the head of the accreditation sector of the educational and methodological department of Igor Sikorsky KPI, turned 90.

The legend of Ukrainian mathematics and a woman who became one of the symbols of the indomitable Ukrainian spirit, Nina Opanasivna Virchenko, turned 95 on May 5.

On April 1, the staff of the Department of Machines and Apparatus of Chemical and Oil Refining Production congratulated their outstanding colleague, Candidate of Technical Sciences, Professor Viktor Marchevsky. This year's date is special because he turned 90 years old!

On January 30, Andrii Romanovych Stepaniuk, Head of the Department of Machines and Apparatus of Chemical and Oil Refining Production (MAOCP) of the Faculty of Chemical Engineering, PhD, Associate Professor, celebrated his sixtieth birthday. 

Today, Mykhailo Zgurovsky, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor, Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Minister of Education of Ukraine (1994-1999), Rector of Kyiv Polytechnic from April 1992 to July 2024, celebrates his 75th birthday.
