The competition for the Borys Paton Scholarships of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has concluded. This targeted financial support for young Ukrainian researchers aims to create additional opportunities and incentives for conducting relevant fundamental and applied research, enhance the prestige of the research profession and its role in society, and preserve the country’s scientific potential.
“By providing scholarships to support high-ranking research, the state directly fulfills its social function of supporting young researchers and advancing national science,” states the website of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
The applicants competing for this state support were early-career researchers who hold academic degrees, have achieved significant results through fundamental and/or applied research and scientific and technical (experimental) development, and are conducting important fundamental and/or applied research.
According to a submission by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Committee on Education, Science and Innovation, 39 Borys Paton Scholarships of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine were awarded in 2026, each providing a monthly stipend equivalent to five subsistence minimums. Usually, one recipient is selected from each institution. This time, however, Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute has two scholarship recipients!
