Last summer marked the 50th anniversary of the death of the extremely interesting architect and artist Mykola Shehonin. Nobody noticed these anniversaries. And once he was a very famous architect in Kyiv and built several landmarks for the Ukrainian capital.
Ten years ago, the Department of rare and valuable documents, which fund began to collect old books, was created at G. I. Denysenko Scientific and Technical Library of the National Technical University of Ukraine “Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute”.

The Department of Physics at the Kyiv Polytechnic Institute was created at the same time as the institute – in 1898 its organizer and first director was Professor of Kyiv University Georgy DeMetz (1861-1947).
Of the 120 years of existence of Kyiv Polytechnic, 100 fell on the turbulent XX century. Due to changes in the political system and the current situation in the country, there have been constant changes in the name of our university.

During the jubilee year of the university the Scientific-Technical Library named after H.I. Denysenko a series of events to celebrate this important date were conducted: historical lectures, book exhibitions, publications and performances in the press and on the radio.
The University Library has a unique «Collection of photographic images of the Kiev Polytechnic Institute of the Emperor Alexander II, taken for the album, presented to the former Director V.L. Kirpichev in 1902» in their funds.
