Another important step towards the energy independence of the university has been made - an autonomous power supply system for the premises of the Scientific and Technical Library named after H. I. Denysenko of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, which guarantees uninterrupted operation during emergency and stabilization power outages. A solar power plant with a storage system was placed on the roof of the building.
The generation capacity is 14.8 kW.
Total energy storage capacity - 19.2 kWh
1 inverter, 4 large-capacity batteries, 34 photovoltaic modules with a capacity of 435 W each, cable products and structural fasteners.
Why is it important?
⚡️ Uninterrupted access to electronic resources. Permanent access to the ELAKPI institutional repository, an archive of educational and scientific materials, is provided.
⚡️ Increased citation of scientific publications. The ELAKPI repository is steadily indexed in Google Scholar, which means that the web presence and citation of publications of university researchers will increase. And this, in turn, will have a positive impact on the position of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute in the Webometrics ranking of world's universities, which takes into account, among other things, the visibility and transparency of scientific publications.
⚡️ Stable Wi-Fi. All library users will have constant access to the Internet while in the library.
Thanks to this innovation, Kyiv Polytechnic will strengthen its sustainability and energy independence!
It is also an important contribution to the sustainable development of our university. Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute is always about development!
