Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute has joined the Kyiv Science and Innovation Cluster, created on the basis of the Municipal Research Institute for Socio-Economic Development of the City (“NDIRoM”). The NDIRoM is the main research institution of the Kyiv City Council and the Kyiv City State Administration and specializes in research in economics, computer science, and sociology to ensure sustainable development of Kyiv.

Since its founding in 1985, the Institute has come a long way and has now become a key platform for scientific support in solving the social and economic problems of the capital. An important milestone in the history of the Institute was the creation of the Kyiv Science and Innovation Cluster on its basis, which aims to create an ecosystem for transforming scientific ideas into competitive products. The cluster brings together the scientific community, educational institutions, business and startups to jointly develop the innovative potential of the capital.

Olga Dzykovych, Director of the Department of Educational Work, told the KP correspondent about KPI's participation in this scientific and innovative association: “Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute took part in the cluster meeting for the first time on November 7, 2024. Then representatives of the university took part in a meeting of the Coordination Council of the Kyiv Science and Innovation Cluster, where they discussed current challenges in the labor market, in particular those that arose due to Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, and possible solutions through the involvement of scientific and educational potential. The key areas of the cluster's work, according to Serhiy Pavlovsky, Director of the NDIRoM, are the development of short-term training programs, support for innovative startups, holding innovation fairs, and cooperation with international funds.”

Thanks to this cooperation, Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute is actively involved in the development of social entrepreneurship in the capital. On November 14, 2024, representatives of the university - Olga Dzykovych, Director of the Department of Educational Work, and Natalia Pozharska, Head of the Department of Career Guidance - took part in a roundtable discussion on the development of social entrepreneurship in Kyiv. The participants discussed ways to integrate social business into the post-war reconstruction of the city, as well as opportunities for creating an inclusive environment.

On December 3-4, the NDIRoM held the Second All-Ukrainian Scientific and Practical Conference with International Participation “PROKYIV” in a mixed format, which was attended by the Rector of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute Anatoliy Melnychenko (as one of the co-organizers) and university scientists. According to Olha Dzykovych, the conference brought together more than 300 participants, including representatives of 20 educational institutions in Kyiv and 15 educational and public organizations from other cities of Ukraine and other countries, including doctors and candidates of sciences, degree candidates, teachers of higher education institutions, postgraduates, undergraduates and students.

As part of the conference program, on December 3, 2024, the section “Journalism” was held at Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, which was attended by professors, graduate students and students of the Institute of Publishing and Printing. Particular gratitude for its organization was expressed to the Director of the Institute of VPI Petro Kyrychko and Professor of the Institute of VPI Olha Trischuk. The final part of the conference took place on December 4 in the Session Hall of the Kyiv City Council. The participants discussed social responsibility, urbanism, youth employment, and creating a barrier-free environment. The organizers and participants received awards at the end of the event. Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute was awarded a certificate of honorary membership in the Kyiv Science and Innovation Cluster.

Further cooperation between Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute and NDIRoM will give additional impetus to the development of joint innovative projects, implementation of grant programs, development of modern educational initiatives and strengthening of the scientific and technical potential of the capital. And this, in turn, opens up new opportunities for the implementation of joint initiatives aimed at developing the innovation ecosystem of Kyiv. The university demonstrates an active position in addressing current social, economic and educational challenges, strengthening its status as a leading research and educational center in the country.
