A meeting between students and a lecture by an officer of the 1st Azov Corps of the National Guard of Ukraine, Vladislav Dutchak (Associate Professor) — a historian, candidate of philosophical sciences, lecturer with more than 18 years of experience, participant in the defense of Mariupol, founder of the YouTube channel “Associate Professor Knows.”
The lecture covered:
• the history of the creation and transformation of Azov — from a volunteer battalion in 2014 to a corps within the National Guard;
• the origin of the unit's name and symbols;
• the difference between patriotism and nationalism, the importance of their manifestations;
• Azov's largest military operations;
• stories of Azov soldiers who defended and continue to defend Ukraine;
• his own experience of captivity in the Olenivka concentration camp and his return to service after the exchange.
At the end of the meeting, students asked the officer candid questions about war, motivation, moral endurance, and the role of personality in complex historical circumstances.
